  • Reducing Stress this New Year with My Hope Counseling, LLC

I was very blessed and fortunate to offer a mental health perspective on the importance of stress management in the new year 2024! Very thankful to Living local DMV DC news for having me. It was a great experience!

What are some of the ways you will be seeking to practice better stress management this year? Stress is such a broad concept and can impact different areas of your life, if not addressed in a healthy way. Chronic stress can lead to the development of mental health disorders, such as, anxiety, depression, sleep and addiction disorders to name a few. Improving overall stress and anxiety management are some of the areas I specialize in working with my clients. Please feel free to reach out and we can collaboratively seek ways to improve your overall quality of life. I don’t promise to always have the answers, or to offer you a “quick fix”. However, we can both explore the root of your anxiety and stress to offer you the tools you need to improve your overall mental health.

Combatting burnout and how it is caused

Have you ever experienced burnout before? You know the feeling when you are emotionally, mentally and physically exhausted or drained. Or when you experience feelings of emptiness, lack of motivation, or cynicism towards work. Burn out is a term that has been described as an “occupational phenomenon”, according to the World Health Organization (WHO). Although, as a mental health professional, I also see burnout affecting people who are in a position where they are having to care for an ill, disabled, or elderly family member. In addition to being a stay-at-home parent. These are all roles, along with other general life stressors that can also lead to burn out. In this interview I offer a mental health perspective on the causes and effects of burnout. Although burn out is not categorized as a mental health disorder, it can be a huge contributing factor that can lead into the development of a mental health disorder.
